American Football Drops New Video

American Football has released a video for "Bad Moons," the lead single from their upcoming fourth studio album. The track continues the band's signature melodic, introspective indie rock style.

- The upcoming album, also self-titled and referred to as *LP4*, is scheduled for release on May 1, 2026, via Polyvinyl Record Co. This marks their first new full-length album in nearly seven years, following 2019's *LP3*. - "Bad Moons" is an eight-minute track that was created by combining two different demos the band had been working on. Frontman Mike Kinsella described one part as "playful, with children playing and toy-pianos plinking" and the other as "brooding, with guitars screeching and drums bombasting". - The music video for "Bad Moons" was directed by Alex Acy and Rémi Belleville and is described as capturing the song's themes of the "turbulent and fragile transition" from boyhood to manhood. - The new album was produced by the band and Sonny DiPerri. The band's current lineup consists of Mike Kinsella (vocals, guitar), Steve Holmes (guitar), Nate Kinsella (bass), and Steve Lamos (drums, trumpet), who rejoined in 2023. - American Football formed in Urbana, Illinois, in 1997, and originally disbanded in 2000. They reunited in 2014 and have since released two other studio albums. - In 2021, the band released a single titled "Rare Symmetry" along with a cover of Mazzy Star's "Fade Into You". - The band has announced a world tour for 2026 with stops in the UK, Europe, the United States, Canada, and Asia. An additional London date was added due to high demand.
