Microsoft's Copilot Cowork Automates M365 Tasks

Copilot Cowork allows users to delegate complex tasks within Microsoft 365, moving beyond simple prompts to multi-step workflows. It leverages Work IQ to understand context from emails, meetings, files, and data across applications like Outlook, Teams, and Excel. Users can describe the desired outcome, and Cowork creates a plan, executes it in the background, and requests approval at checkpoints. Microsoft's collaboration with Anthropic brings the technology powering Claude Cowork into Microsoft 365 Copilot. This integration offers a multi-model approach, allowing Copilot to choose the best model for the task. Copilot Cowork runs within Microsoft 365's security and governance boundaries, ensuring enterprise-grade data protection. Copilot Cowork can handle tasks such as calendar management, meeting preparation, and company research. For example, it can review your Outlook calendar to identify conflicts and schedule focus time or compile research from various sources into a structured memo and Excel workbook. It can also build launch plans and competitive analyses. The new Microsoft 365 E7 bundle, priced at $99 per user per month, includes Copilot Cowork, Agent 365, the Entra identity suite, and advanced security tools. Agent 365, which will be generally available on May 1st for $15 per user, helps organizations manage AI agents. Microsoft is also offering Copilot Cowork through its Frontier program.
