Autonomous Trucking Startup Einride Raises $113M
Einride, a startup focused on autonomous and electric freight, has raised $113 million in an oversubscribed funding round ahead of its SPAC merger. The investment signals strong investor appetite for technology that automates logistics and industrial sectors.
This latest funding round is a Private Investment in Public Equity (PIPE) that exceeded its $100 million target, signaling strong investor confidence. The $113 million is part of a larger $213 million in total committed capital, with notable backing from existing investor EQT Ventures and a large US-based asset management firm. The financing precedes Einride's planned merger with a special purpose acquisition company (SPAC), Legato Merger Corp. III. This deal sets Einride's pre-money equity value at $1.35 billion and is expected to list the combined company on the New York Stock Exchange under the ticker symbol "ENRD" during the first half of 2026. Founded in Stockholm, Sweden in 2016 by Robert Falck, Linnéa Kornehed, and Filip Lilja, the company is led by CEO Falck, who previously served as a director of manufacturing engineering at Volvo GTO Powertrain. He founded Einride after seeing the potential to apply the automated electric vehicle technology used inside factories to public roads. Einride operates on a "Freight-Capacity-as-a-Service" (FCaaS) and "Software-as-a-Service" (SaaS) model, providing an entire ecosystem for shippers. This includes an AI-powered platform for logistics optimization, a fleet of electric and autonomous vehicles, and the necessary charging infrastructure. The company has already gained significant commercial traction with over 25 enterprise customers, including major brands like GE Appliances, PepsiCo, and Carlsberg. Einride currently operates a fleet of approximately 200 electric vehicles for clients across seven countries in North America, Europe, and the Middle East. Einride has a history of pioneering achievements, becoming the first company in the world to operate a fully autonomous, electric freight vehicle on a public road in 2019. More recently, it completed the world's first autonomous, cabless electric border crossing between Sweden and Norway.
