Observability vendors are no longer selling only dashboards for software outages; they are moving into tools that watch, test, and steer artificial intelligence agents. Snowflake said on January 8 that those records have become harder to manage as companies generate terabytes to petabytes of telemetry and try to run more autonomous systems. Cisco said Galileo adds real-time visibility, evaluation, and guardrails across the full agent development lifecycle, including prompt optimization, model selection, production monitoring, and failure detection before users see errors. The company said the tool links each product change to user behavior, application performance, and business outcomes instead of treating experimentation as a separate workflow. Snowflake said Observe’s site reliability engineer agent correlates logs, metrics, and traces, and can resolve production issues up to 10 times faster while letting customers retain 100% of telemetry data at lower cost. Cisco is buying evaluation and guardrails for agents, Datadog is tying product tests and security investigations to live telemetry, and Snowflake is pitching observability as a data-and-automation layer for operating agents at scale. Cisco said teams now need visibility into hallucinations, bias, cost, usage, and security risks, while Snowflake said customers have been forced into sampling and short retention windows because artificial intelligence systems generate too much telemetry to store cheaply.
