Equinix launches Fabric Intelligence

Equinix released an AI-native networking layer called Fabric Intelligence that automates multi-cloud and data-center connectivity, claiming it can cut network setup from weeks to minutes. The offering includes a ‘Fabric Super Agent’ tied to Equinix’s footprint of 280 data centers across 77 metros and is positioned for customers with hybrid and edge AI workloads. (stocktitan.net)

Equinix said on April 15 it is rolling out Fabric Intelligence, a software layer that uses artificial intelligence agents to set up and run enterprise network connections. (investor.equinix.com) The company said the product automates links across multiple clouds, data centers and edge sites, and it is available now in preview. Equinix said customers can use a “Fabric Super Agent” through Slack, Microsoft Teams or the Equinix Customer Portal. (investor.equinix.com; sdxcentral.com) In plain terms, Equinix is trying to turn network setup into something closer to a chat request than a manual engineering project. Its existing Fabric service already lets customers create direct private links to cloud providers, partners and their own equipment inside Equinix facilities. (sdxcentral.com; docs.equinix.com) That matters because artificial intelligence workloads often run in pieces: model training near graphics processor clusters, sensitive data processing in specific countries, and inference close to end users. Equinix markets its platform as a way to spread those workloads across 280 data centers in 77 metro areas. (equinix.com; investor.equinix.com) Equinix said Fabric Intelligence also includes a Model Context Protocol server, called MCP Server, so external artificial intelligence tools can interact with its network platform. The launch package also includes Fabric Application Connect and Fabric Insights, which the company said handle application-to-application connectivity and performance monitoring. (investor.equinix.com; stocktitan.net) The company said the new layer builds on a Fabric business that already connects more than 4,400 customers. On its product site, Equinix separately says Fabric can connect users to hundreds of network, communications, security and cloud providers and to more than 9,500 potential partners. (stocktitan.net; equinix.com) Equinix is pitching speed as the main selling point. The company said tasks that used to take days or weeks through tickets, dashboards and application programming interfaces can be reduced to minutes through natural-language prompts and automated workflows. (investor.equinix.com; sdxcentral.com) The launch extends a broader Equinix push to sell itself as the place where enterprise artificial intelligence systems physically live and connect. Its recent offerings include an Equinix AI Factory service with NVIDIA and a wider “distributed AI” pitch built around private connectivity rather than only public cloud capacity. (equinix.com; equinix.com) For customers, the test will be whether those agents can safely handle real production networks, not just demos. Equinix said it will show the product at Google Cloud Next 2026, while the preview rollout gives enterprises their first chance to see whether the promised shortcut from weeks to minutes holds up.
