Thunder Edge Nuggets in OT

Shai Gilgeous-Alexander returned from injury and scored 36 points as the Oklahoma City Thunder beat the Denver Nuggets 117-114 in overtime. The Thunder scraped a 127-121 OT win in what fans called one of the night's best games.

The game marked Shai Gilgeous-Alexander's return after a nine-game absence due to an abdominal strain. The reigning MVP's return is crucial as he can only miss six more games to remain eligible for end-of-season awards, which require a 65-game minimum. This matchup between Western Conference rivals was contentious from the start, featuring multiple technical fouls and physical play. Tensions boiled over in the fourth quarter when Thunder guard Lu Dort was ejected with a Flagrant 2 foul on Nikola Jokic, leading to a larger scrum and offsetting technicals for Jokic and Jaylin Williams. Despite the loss, Nikola Jokic recorded a massive triple-double for the Nuggets with 23 points, 17 rebounds, and 14 assists. Guard Jamal Murray, who was questionable with an illness before the game, led Denver in scoring with 39 points. Even with Gilgeous-Alexander's high-scoring performance, he did not play in the overtime period. Center Chet Holmgren was a major factor for the Thunder, putting up 15 points and a dominant 21 rebounds. The victory improved Oklahoma City's record to 46-15, strengthening their position as the top team in the Western Conference standings. The game was a rematch of last year's Western Conference semifinals, where the Thunder defeated the Nuggets in a seven-game series.
