The exhibition, titled "A Year in Normandy," showcases a 90-meter-long frieze Hockney created on his iPad. It captures the changing seasons he observed from his studio in Normandy. Hockney drew inspiration from the Bayeux Tapestry for this work. The tapestry depicts the Norman invasion of England in 1066. Hockney has visited the Bayeux Tapestry museum in Normandy over 20 times in the past three years. The exhibition runs from March 12 to August 23, 2026, at the Serpentine North Gallery. This marks Hockney's first solo exhibition at the Serpentine Galleries. The display aligns the painted cycles of nature with Kensington Gardens outside the gallery.
