New Milton, GA, Park Trail

Milton, GA's City Park and Preserve now has a 2.5-mile loop trail with boardwalks, pier, pavilion, and 130 acres of greenspace.

The Milton City Park and Preserve sits on 137 acres, 130 of which are designated for "passive" use, meaning no development. The remaining 7 acres are for "active" recreation, including the Milton City Pool, Tennis Center, and Community Center. The park is located at 1785 Dinsmore Road. The new trail project, funded in part by a $1.5 million grant from the Georgia Department of Natural Resources, aims to transform the former Milton Country Club into a more natural greenspace. The upgrades include connecting two existing ponds with a creek, building a pier with a pavilion, and planting native trees and shrubs. The city also implemented stormwater infrastructure improvements. The park's transformation began after the City of Milton acquired the former Milton Country Club in February 2018, using funds from a voter-approved $25 million greenspace bond. The first trail, a 1.25-mile segment, opened in April 2022 along with the renovated Community Center. The full 2.5-mile loop opened to the public in early 2026. Even more improvements are planned for Milton City Park and Preserve, including reconfiguring the parking lot, enhancing lighting, adding a playground, and expanding the tennis complex. Construction is expected to begin in September 2026.
