Texas refinery opens – first in 50 years

President Trump announced the opening of a new oil refinery in Brownsville, TX—the first in the U.S. in 50 years.

The refinery, built by Texas International Oil Company, aims to process 50,000 barrels of crude oil per day. This could significantly boost the local economy in Brownsville, creating hundreds of jobs. The project overcame numerous regulatory hurdles and environmental concerns to reach completion. It represents a major investment in U.S. energy infrastructure. Some analysts predict this refinery could lead to lower gas prices in South Texas. Others express concern about the environmental impact on the sensitive coastal ecosystem.
