Gallery Openings & Shows
Several local gallery shows are on the calendar, including ABV Gallery’s group show ‘In Motion’ and Tiny Kaiju’s ‘Lucky You’ opening May 2 with 30+ participating artists. ( ) First Floor Gallery and AWG & Friends also have solo and group exhibitions slated for early May. ( )
Atlanta’s early May gallery calendar is filling up with a cluster of openings, led by a three-part event at ABV Gallery on Saturday, May 2. (eventbrite.com) That May 2 program at ABV combines the group exhibition “In Motion,” a solo show by Sabrina Shumaker, and a solo presentation by Tiny Kaiju, with doors listed for 6 p.m. at ABV Gallery in East Atlanta. (eventbrite.com) ABV describes its current East Atlanta Village space as an 8,500-square-foot converted church, and says the gallery works with more than 500 artists through exhibitions, murals, brand activations, and other events. (eventbrite.com (abvatl.com)) The May lineup lands as ABV continues to use the larger East Atlanta Village venue it opened in 2024 after moving from its smaller Old Fourth Ward-era footprint. The gallery says the new building is six times larger than the previous space. (abvatl.com 1) (abvatl.com 2)) ABV has built much of its audience through recurring public programs as well as formal exhibitions. The gallery says its monthly “Drink and Doodle” series has run for nine years and has also expanded into off-site editions with as many as 100 participating artists. (abvatl.com 1) (abvatl.com 2)) Another show using the same “AWG & Friends” title is scheduled for May 2 through May 23, 2026 at Atlantic Works Gallery in East Boston, according to listings published this week. Those listings describe it as a group exhibit pairing gallery members with invited artists. (caughtineastie.com) (thebostoncalendar.com)) I could verify the ABV event and the Atlantic Works Gallery dates, but I could not independently confirm the First Floor Gallery and Tiny Kaiju details beyond the event listing language available in search results because the relevant sites were either blocked from access or did not return usable pages in search.
