Conor Benn Fights Prograis
British welterweight Conor Benn will make his Zuffa Boxing debut against former champion Regis Prograis on April 11 at Wembley Stadium, fighting on the undercard of Tyson Fury's comeback bout against Arslanbek Makhmudov. Benn enters with a 24-1 record (15 KOs), his sole loss coming to Chris Eubank Jr. in 2024, while Prograis brings a 29-2 record with 24 KOs.
This fight marks Conor Benn's first outing under the Zuffa Boxing banner, a new promotion headed by UFC CEO Dana White and backed by Saudi Arabia's Sela. Benn's move from Matchroom Boxing, his career-long promoter, was a shock to the boxing world, with the deal for this single fight reportedly worth around $15 million. The bout represents a crucial crossroads for both fighters. Benn is looking to legitimize his return to the top tier of the welterweight division after a tumultuous period outside the ring. Prograis, a former two-time junior welterweight world champion, is aiming to prove he remains an elite force after losing two of his last three fights. Benn's career was derailed in October 2022 when he twice tested positive for the banned substance clomifene, a female fertility drug that can boost testosterone in men. The adverse findings led to the last-minute cancellation of a highly anticipated grudge match against Chris Eubank Jr. What followed was a protracted battle to clear his name. Benn relinquished his British boxing license and was provisionally suspended by UK Anti-Doping (UKAD). While the National Anti-Doping Panel initially lifted the suspension, UKAD and the British Boxing Board of Control won an appeal, and his provisional suspension was reimposed in May 2024. During his effective exile from fighting in the UK, Benn took two tune-up fights in the United States. He secured decision victories over Rodolfo Orozco in September 2023 and Peter Dobson in February 2024. This bout against Prograis will be contested at a catchweight of 150 pounds. Regis "Rougarou" Prograis held the WBC super lightweight title from 2022 to 2023. However, he lost the belt in a lopsided unanimous decision to Devin Haney in December 2023 and suffered another decision loss to Jack Catterall in October 2024. His most recent outing was a narrow unanimous decision win over Joseph Diaz in August 2025. This undercard placement is on a massive stage, supporting Tyson Fury’s comeback against Arslanbek Makhmudov. Prograis has noted the irony of the situation, stating, "Last time I fought in London, Conor Benn was on my undercard, so this is a full-circle moment for me."
