Jonas Vingegaard grabbed the yellow jersey after a chaotic Stage 4 win at Paris-Nice, while Juan Ayuso crashed out [https://cyclinguptodate.com/cycling/results-paris-nice-2026-chaos-on-queen-stage-jonas-vingegaard-wins-and-takes-yellow-as-juan-ayuso-crashes-out]. Stage 5 coverage starts at 12:05 CET [https://cyclinguptodate.com/cycling/paris-nice-2026-stage-5-preview-profiles-favourites-predictions-will-jonas-vingegaard-keep-the-yellow-jersey-on-dangerous-day].
The crash that took out Ayuso occurred on a wet descent with about 46km remaining in the stage. Edoardo Affini, who was behind Ayuso, said the rider's back wheel slipped out at speeds around 80 km/h. Ayuso was seen trying to continue, but ultimately had to stop and was taken to the hospital where it was determined that he fortunately avoided fractures. Several other riders went down in the same incident, including Brandon McNulty, who also had to abandon the race. A total of 14 riders did not finish Stage 4. Vingegaard seized the opportunity, attacking on the final climb to Uchon and winning the stage by 41 seconds. Dani MartÃnez finished second, and Vingegaard now leads him in the general classification by 52 seconds. The weather played a significant role, with rain and crosswinds causing echelons early in the stage. Vingegaard himself crashed out of Paris-Nice last year, making this victory a form of redemption.
