Santa Clara County Library District is marking National Library Week with free programs across its branches through Friday, April 25. (sccld.org) The district’s April 19 post says the week is built around books, digital resources, job help and in-person programming, with branch calendars carrying the specific times and locations. The district homepage points readers to its events listings and says National Library Week runs April 19–25. (sccld.org 1) (sccld.org 2) Santa Clara County Library District highlighted book discussions, weekly storytimes, free Zumba classes, craft programs, gardening events, board games, video games and Dungeons & Dragons as examples of what patrons can find during the week. The district said the activities are aimed at children, teens, adults and older residents. (sccld.org) National Library Week is a national observance sponsored by the American Library Association and libraries across the country each April. The association says the 2026 dates are April 19–25 and the theme is “Find Your Joy.” (ala.org) The American Library Association says National Library Week was first celebrated in 1958. Its 2026 honorary chair is librarian and “Reading Rainbow” host Mychal Threets, who is also featured in Santa Clara County Library District’s local campaign. (ala.org 1) (ala.org 2) The district’s branch pages show how local schedules vary. Cupertino lists bilingual family storytime and knit-alongs, while Los Altos lists preschool storytime and an English as a Second Language conversation club. (sccld.org) (sccld.org) Morgan Hill’s calendar includes children’s programs such as Tiny Tot Jamboree and Itty Bitty Jamboree, and Woodland lists programs including Sprouting Stories and Monday Meditation & Mindfulness. Gilroy’s page advertises Open Access self-service hours in addition to regular branch hours. (sccld.org) (sccld.org) (sccld.org) Not every site is operating normally this week. Campbell Library’s branch page says its renovated building at 77 Harrison Avenue is scheduled to reopen on Saturday, May 9, and that the branch is closed until then. (sccld.org) Santa Clara County Library District also runs online offerings beyond any single branch, including virtual author talks, language learning, homework help and digital collections available through its website. For this week’s in-person and online events, the district is directing patrons back to the branch calendars and central events listings. (sccld.org) (sccld.org)
