Hyundai Launches Enhanced 2026 Verna
Hyundai launched the enhanced 2026 Verna sedan in India starting at ₹10.98 lakh with over 25 upgrades. New features include dual 10.25-inch displays, Level 2 ADAS safety tech, and updated color options, making it a stronger competitor against the Virtus and Slavia rivals.
The 2026 Verna is powered by two petrol engine options: a 1.5-litre naturally aspirated engine producing 115hp and a more powerful 1.5-litre turbo-petrol engine that delivers 160hp. Gearbox choices include a 6-speed manual as standard on both, with an optional CVT for the naturally aspirated engine and a 7-speed DCT for the turbo-petrol. This update represents the first significant refresh for the Verna since its launch in 2023, introducing Hyundai's new 'HX' trim naming convention. The pricing for the 2026 model now ranges from ₹10.98 lakh to ₹18.25 lakh, with the base model seeing an increase of ₹18,900 and the top-spec turbo-petrol DCT variant becoming ₹1.12 lakh more expensive. The mid-size sedan segment has seen a decline in popularity as consumers increasingly favor SUVs. Despite this trend, the segment remains competitive with the Verna facing rivals like the Honda City, Volkswagen Virtus, and Skoda Slavia. In 2022, the Honda City held the largest market share at 34.91%, followed by the Skoda Slavia at 20.59%, and the Hyundai Verna at 17.52%. The new Verna boasts over 75 advanced safety features, including Level 2 ADAS, seven airbags, and a dashcam. It also features all-around disc brakes, Hill Start Assist Control, ABS with EBD, and Electronic Stability Control. The interior upgrades include an 8-way electrically adjustable driver's seat and a segment-first 8-speaker Bose sound system. The boot capacity stands at 528 litres.
