Warframe Hits Nintendo Switch 2
Digital Extremes announced Warframe will launch on Nintendo Switch 2 on March 25, coinciding with "The Shadowgrapher" update across all platforms. Players logging in via Switch 2 between March 25 and April 15 will receive exclusive in-game items including the Ambimanus Pack with the Vericres Warfan weapon. The new version brings enhanced resolution, mouse controls, and improved frame rates as Warframe celebrates its 13th anniversary.
The upcoming launch builds on Warframe's original Nintendo Switch release from November 20, 2018, which was handled by porting specialist Panic Button. That version targeted 30 frames per second and often saw performance dip in open-world areas, a significant contrast to the 60 FPS and 1080p resolution promised for the Switch 2 port. This new version arrives after the full implementation of cross-platform save and play. Cross-play began rolling out in late 2022, uniting players across PC, PlayStation, and Xbox. The crucial cross-save feature, allowing players to use a single account on any platform, became fully available in January 2024. "The Shadowgrapher" update introduces Follie, the game's 64th playable Warframe, who utilizes an ink- and art-based skillset. Her abilities include disappearing into a canvas to reappear elsewhere, summoning an ink doppelganger to absorb damage, and lifting enemies into the air with inky balloons. Alongside Follie comes a new horror-themed game mode, "Follie's Hunt," where a squad of four must complete objectives while being pursued by an invulnerable manifestation of the new Warframe. A limited-time event, "Operation: Atramentum," will follow a week after the update's launch, running from April 2 to April 23. The game's 13th-anniversary celebration will run from March 13 to May 8, 2026. The event brings back all previous anniversary-themed "Dex" items through weekly alerts and introduces a new cosmetic item, the Dex Signa. The update also adds new cosmetic types, including Atragraphs that alter the appearance of ability Mods to look like animated foil trading cards. Additionally, new deluxe skins for the Warframes Gauss and Grendel will be released, along with a fresh wave of player-designed TennoGen items.
