Hornets Crush Mavericks 117-90

The Charlotte Hornets routed the Dallas Mavericks 117-90 to extend their win streak to five games and reach .500 (33-33). Brandon Miller led with 28 points as Charlotte held Dallas to just 39% shooting. The Hornets have become one of the NBA's hottest teams since January.

The Hornets' recent dominance is highlighted by the fact that each of their last five victories have come by 15 or more points. This is the longest such streak in the NBA since the 2017-18 Golden State Warriors. The team's turnaround has been dramatic, as they held a 16-28 record as recently as late January. During their five-game winning streak, Charlotte's offense has been prolific, averaging 121.6 points per game. Their potent attack is spearheaded by the trio of Brandon Miller, LaMelo Ball, and rookie Kon Knueppel. In the victory against the Mavericks, Ball contributed 15 points, nine assists, five rebounds, and five steals. While the Hornets are ascending, the Mavericks are in a significant slump, having lost eight of their last ten games. In the 117-90 loss to Charlotte, Dallas struggled mightily from three-point range, making only 3 of their 22 attempts. The Hornets will look to continue their hot streak as they face the Miami Heat next. Meanwhile, the Mavericks will try to right the ship on the road against the Orlando Magic.
