Rocketlane Launches 'Agentic' Platform
Professional services automation company Rocketlane has launched Nitro, which it calls the industry's first "agentic execution platform." The AI-powered system is designed to help services teams manage more projects with the same headcount, promising to cut delivery effort by up to 50% and identify risks weeks earlier.
The founding team of Srikrishnan Ganesan, Deepak Bala, and Vignesh Girishankar previously had their startup, Konotor, acquired by Freshworks. It was during their time integrating with larger enterprise clients at Freshworks that they identified a majorly underserved phase: the chaotic customer onboarding process after a deal is signed. Ganesan calls this critical phase "The Second Sale," arguing it's where customer trust is either built or broken. His team saw that professional services teams were struggling to manage this crucial first step, often juggling spreadsheets, project tools, and disconnected communication channels, which put customer experience at risk from the very beginning. The term "agentic AI" signals a shift from reactive to proactive project management. Unlike traditional tools that require manual input, AI agents are designed to act autonomously—making decisions, reallocating resources when timelines shift, and flagging risks without waiting for human commands. Rocketlane's Nitro platform applies this by automating the entire delivery lifecycle, from generating a Statement of Work to managing project financials and billing. Its AI agents handle resource allocation by monitoring every timeline and role to maximize team utilization and profitability, automatically updating assignments when project scope or deadlines change. This move positions Rocketlane to challenge legacy players in the Professional Services Automation (PSA) software market, which is projected to grow to over $28 billion by 2031. The growth is largely driven by a demand for cloud-based tools and AI-powered workflow automation to improve efficiency. Investors have backed this vision, with the company raising $45 million in total funding, including a $24 million Series B round in June 2024 co-led by 8VC, Matrix Partners India, and Nexus Venture Partners. The firm plans to use the capital to accelerate its AI roadmap and expand its go-to-market efforts in the U.S. and Europe. A key part of Rocketlane's strategy has been community-led growth. CEO Srikrishnan Ganesan launched "Preflight," a community for customer onboarding and implementation professionals, even before the product was fully developed, allowing them to build relationships and deeply understand user pain points.
