Anthony Kim Wins LIV Golf Adelaide
Anthony Kim clinched victory at the 2026 LIV Golf Adelaide in a remarkable comeback, with the event featuring a lucrative $20 million purse. Collin Morikawa delivered a record-setting round at Pebble Beach putting him in strong contention, while betting action highlights include Rasmus Neergaard-Peterson at +4800 odds for the PGA Cognizant Classic.
Anthony Kim's victory marks a stunning return after he vanished from the golf world for 12 years. Once ranked as high as sixth in the world, he last played a professional event in May 2012 before an Achilles tendon injury sidelined him, turning him into a mythical figure in the sport. During his long hiatus, Kim battled what he has described as "dark demons," undergoing multiple surgeries and overcoming severe struggles with drug and alcohol addiction. He has been candid about his past, stating he contemplated suicide for nearly two decades, even during his successful run on the PGA Tour. His comeback with LIV Golf in 2024 was far from glorious; he often finished near the bottom of the field and did not record a single top-25 finish in his first two seasons. After finishing 55th in the 2025 season-long standings, he was relegated from the league. To continue his professional career, Kim had to earn his spot back for the 2026 season. He successfully did so by finishing third at the LIV Golf Promotions event in January 2026, securing one of the final wild card positions in the league. The win in Adelaide was his first professional victory since the 2010 Houston Open. He started the final round five shots behind major champions Jon Rahm and Bryson DeChambeau before shooting a bogey-free, 9-under 63 to win by three strokes. The victory came with a $4 million winner's check, nearly matching his entire earnings from his first two seasons on LIV. The win also caused his Official World Golf Ranking to skyrocket, jumping from No. 847 to No. 203. Following his triumph, Kim announced a new business partnership, taking an equity stake in the lifestyle golf brand Malbon Golf. He had been seen wearing the brand's socks during his victory and opted for ownership in the company over a traditional cash sponsorship deal. Kim, now 40, celebrated the emotional win on the 18th green with his wife, Emily, and young daughter, Bella. He credited his family for giving him a renewed purpose and inspiring him to overcome his past struggles.
