Trump unveils $300B Texas refinery deal

Former President Trump announced a $300 billion oil refinery deal in Texas, calling it the largest energy infrastructure investment in 50 years.

The refinery, to be built at the Port of Brownsville, is being developed by America First Refining. Trump thanked India's Reliance Industries for their investment in the project. The facility will exclusively process American shale oil into refined products for both domestic use and export. America First Refining has also secured a 20-year agreement with a global energy major for the purchase, processing, and distribution of the refinery's output. The project anticipates processing 1.2 billion barrels of shale oil, valued at $125 billion, to produce 50 billion gallons of refined products worth $175 billion. Construction is slated to begin in the second quarter of 2026. The refinery is expected to have the capacity to process approximately 60 million barrels of shale oil each year. Developers are touting the refinery’s modern tech for efficient operations and reduced environmental impact.
