Aberdeen Restaurant Weeks Overwhelms Venues
Aberdeen Restaurant Weeks has seen such strong demand that venues among the 90 participants have brought in extra staff to cope. The event continues through March 8, signaling a robust return to communal, in-person dining experiences in the Scottish city.
This year's "Foodie Fortnight," running from February 23 to March 8, is the largest iteration of the event in Scotland, with a record 90 restaurants, bars, and cafés participating. The event, organized by the business improvement district Aberdeen Inspired, aims to boost the city's hospitality industry and increase footfall in the city center. Special menus are on offer with prices ranging from £10 to £30, alongside curated à la carte and tasting menus. The diverse culinary lineup includes everything from fine dining and international cuisine to casual cafes, featuring longtime participants and a number of new establishments. Previous editions of Aberdeen Restaurant Weeks have been estimated to inject around £500,000 into the local economy each time they are held. The event is seen by restaurateurs as a crucial way to attract new customers and bring in more diners during what can be a quieter period for the sector. Beyond the set menus, the event includes unique experiences like "Secret Suppers," where the dining location and menu remain a mystery to ticket holders until the day of the event. Another popular feature is the "Foodie Passport," which encourages diners to visit multiple venues for a chance to win prizes like a £500 Aberdeen Gift Card.
