Dave Triumphs at O2 Arena

British rap star Dave delivered a standout performance at London's O2 Arena on Friday, marking his first hometown show in four years. Reviewers praised Dave for transcending his rapper status, noting the emotional impact and theatricality that spanned his entire career. The critically acclaimed show reaffirms Dave's reputation as one of the UK's most compelling live hip-hop acts and stands out as a cultural milestone for 2026.

The O2 Arena show is part of "The Boy Who Played The Harp Tour," celebrating Dave's third studio album released in late 2025. This project became his third consecutive UK number-one album, making him the first British rapper to achieve this feat. The album's release week was the second biggest for a British album in 2025 and set a record as the fastest-selling UK rap album on vinyl this century. Before this run of shows, Dave's last headline performance at the O2 Arena was in early 2022. Those dates were themselves delayed due to the pandemic and damage to the venue's roof caused by Storm Eunice. His critically acclaimed 2019 "Psychodrama" tour concluded with two sold-out nights at the smaller O2 Academy Brixton. The 27-year-old artist's career is decorated with major awards, including a Mercury Prize and a Brit Award for Album of the Year for his 2019 debut, *Psychodrama*. His second album, *We're All Alone in This Together* (2021), had the biggest opening week for a UK rap album since 2010. The stage production for the current tour features a diamond-shaped stage extending into the audience, pyrotechnics, and a full live band. The show also incorporated holographic appearances from collaborators like Central Cee and Stormzy, while musician James Blake joined Dave live on stage for several songs. Known for his multi-instrumental talent, Dave played both the piano and guitar during the performance. The setlist blended tracks from his new album with fan favourites such as "Thiago Silva," "Clash," and his 2018 number-one single, "Funky Friday." Throughout his career, Dave has been praised for his socially conscious lyrics tackling mental health and social activism. During the show, he addressed the young audience, speaking on their power and potential during "tumultuous times." Following the multi-night residency at the O2 Arena, "The Boy Who Played The Harp Tour" is scheduled to continue with dates in Birmingham and Manchester before heading to North America and Australia later in 2026.
