Justin Bieber headlined Coachella on Saturday night, April 11, his first time topping the festival bill at the Empire Polo Club in Indio. (usatoday.com) He closed the set with “Daisies,” performed with Mk.gee on bass, and video of the stripped-down ending spread quickly across social platforms overnight. (setlist.fm) The set mixed new material with older hits, including “Baby,” “Favorite Girl,” “That Should Be Me,” “Beauty and a Beat,” “Never Say Never,” “Sorry” and “Where Are Ü Now.” Setlist.fm said several of those songs had not been performed live in years. (setlist.fm) Bieber also brought out The Kid Laroi for “Stay,” Dijon for “Devotion,” and Tems and Wizkid for “I Think You’re Special” and “Essence.” The Orange County Register said the performance closed Day 2 alongside David Byrne’s set elsewhere on the grounds. (ocregister.com) The booking put Bieber at the center of Coachella’s 25th edition, which opened April 10 and runs over two weekends in Indio. E! listed Sabrina Carpenter, Bieber and Karol G as this year’s headliners. (eonline.com) It was also a milestone at this festival specifically: the Orange County Register reported that Bieber had attended Coachella for years and appeared as a guest in 2019 and 2022, but had never performed his own full headlining set there before April 11. (ocregister.com) The Coachella appearance followed two smaller Los Angeles club dates, at the Roxy on March 29 and the Troubadour on April 4, that preceded his desert festival return. Setlist.fm lists a second Coachella performance scheduled for April 18, the festival’s second weekend. (setlist.fm) By the end of the night, the song drawing the most attention was the quietest one. Bieber left Coachella’s biggest stage with “Daisies,” not a fireworks finale. (setlist.fm)
