This policy reversal caused the price of benchmark Thai white rice to fall from $669 per metric tonne in January 2024 to $405 by March 2025, intensifying competition for all major exporters. In response, rival exporters are focusing on value over volume. Vietnam aims to export 7.5 million tons of rice
