LG and SKS Outfit 'The New American Home'

LG and its luxury kitchen appliance brand Signature Kitchen Suite (SKS) have outfitted 'The New American Home' 2026. The project, which serves as an official show home for the National Association of Home Builders, showcases the latest in connected luxury and smart home innovation.

- For the first time, The New American Home is being built for a specific owner rather than as a concept house. The client is philanthropist and tech entrepreneur Dr. Jason Eichenholz, co-founder of Luminar Technologies. The project will also serve as a platform for charitable causes, with Eichenholz matching all supplier contributions with a donation to his foundation, Jonathan's Landing, which helps adults on the autism spectrum. - Located in Winter Park, Florida, the 16,612-square-foot residence pushes the boundaries of regional construction with features like a 13-foot-deep basement and an automated underground garage for up to 18 cars, feats of engineering given the area's high water table. This will be the 43rd home in the program's history and the last one to be built in Orlando before future projects move exclusively to Las Vegas. - The home's design prioritizes wellness and biophilic elements, a key trend in luxury properties that seeks to connect occupants with nature. Features aligning with this include a dedicated wellness center, a balcony spa off the master suite, and a design that emphasizes indoor-outdoor living with views of an infinity-edge pool and the adjacent lake. - The Signature Kitchen Suite (SKS) appliances selected for the home reflect the "quiet luxury" movement by focusing on performance and seamless integration over prominent branding. SKS appliances are known for whisper-quiet dishwashers operating as low as 40 dBA and professional-grade cooking technology like the industry's first built-in sous vide range. - LG's contribution extends beyond the kitchen to a whole-home, AI-driven ecosystem managed by its ThinQ platform. This system integrates appliances and sensors to anticipate needs, aiming for a "Zero Labor Home" concept where chores are automated, reflecting a broader hospitality trend of using technology to provide anticipatory, hyper-personalized service. - The project is a collaboration between the NAHB's Leading Suppliers Council and *Professional Builder* magazine, with construction managed by Alair Homes Orlando, marking the first time a national builder has led The New American Home project. The home will be officially unveiled and open for tours during the NAHB International Builders' Show (IBS), from February 17-19, 2026.
