Keith Breaks European 10K Record

Megan Keith set a new women's European 10km road record in Castellon, clocking one second faster than Eilish McColgan's previous mark. The 23-year-old's achievement is remarkable given she missed four months of running after an ankle injury at the 2024 Paris Olympics.

- The new record of 30:07 is the third time the European women's 10km mark has been broken in just seven weeks. Belgium's Jana Van Lent and McColgan had exchanged the record in January. - Keith finished fourth in the Castellon race, which was won by Kenya's Caroline Makandi Gitonga in 29:34. - The former record holder, Eilish McColgan, also competed, finishing sixth in 30:35 as she continues her preparations for the London Marathon. - Her injury at the 2024 Paris Olympics occurred in the 10,000m final, where she finished in last place after being lapped. - Before dedicating herself to running, Keith was a world junior champion in orienteering. - Under the guidance of her coach, Ross Cairns, Keith has had a strong return from injury, including a silver medal at the 2025 European Cross Country Championships. - Keith is expected to make her half marathon debut at the New York Half Marathon on March 15.
