RAK Showcases Ramadan Tourism Appeal

Ras al Khaimah's official tourism account @heartofrak shared Wadi Shaam landscapes and Iftar community vibes with sunset views. Rixos Bab Al Bahr hotel is offering deals at AED 409 all-inclusive with first child under 12 free. Official media also highlighted traditional Ramadan foods like harees, luqaimat, and thareed.

The push to attract visitors during the holy month is part of a much larger strategy to position Ras Al Khaimah as a global tourism hub, with the goal of attracting over 3.5 million visitors annually by 2030. This ambition is spearheaded by the Ras Al Khaimah Tourism Development Authority (RAKTDA), which recently appointed Phillipa Harrison, former Managing Director of Tourism Australia, as its new CEO in August 2025. The emirate is experiencing a significant tourism boom, having welcomed a record-breaking 1.35 million overnight visitors in 2025, a 6% increase from the previous year. This growth generated a 12% rise in tourism revenues, with notable increases in key international markets including India, China, the United Kingdom, and Russia. A massive expansion of hotel capacity is underway to accommodate the rising number of tourists. Major upcoming projects include a 70-storey Wynn Al Marjan Island, the UAE's first integrated resort, slated to open in 2027 with over 1,500 rooms and create 9,000 jobs. Other luxury brands like Four Seasons, Fairmont, and W Hotels are also developing properties. Beyond hotels, Ras Al Khaimah is diversifying its appeal by promoting unique cultural and adventure experiences. The Suwaidi Pearl Farm, the region's only Arabian pearl farm, offers a glimpse into the UAE's pearling legacy. For adventure seekers, Jebel Jais, the UAE's highest peak, offers the world's longest zipline and numerous hiking trails. During Ramadan, the destination leverages its diverse landscapes to offer distinctive Iftar experiences, from sunset meals atop Jebel Jais to traditional feasts in desert camps. Attractions like Jebel Jais and the Suwaidi Pearl Farm remain open, providing a range of activities for visitors observing the holy month. This tourism drive is a core component of the emirate's economic diversification plan. The strategy aims to elevate tourism's contribution from 5% to one-third of its economy. Large-scale projects like Marjan Beach, an 85-million-square-foot development, and RAK Central, a new commercial district, are being developed to support this long-term vision.
