Space Force adds USSPACECOM to 'Front Door' outreach

The Space Force’s industry‑outreach initiative 'Front Door' is adding U.S. Space Command to its platform to provide access to commercial technologies. ExecutiveGov reported the move as part of a commercial‑first approach to sourcing space capabilities. (executivegov.com)

The U.S. Space Force has opened its “Front Door” industry portal to U.S. Space Command, giving companies one more route to pitch space technology to the military. (ssc.spaceforce.mil) Space Systems Command said the expansion was announced in El Segundo, California, and makes Front Door the combatant command’s new entry point for commercial firms that want to share products, ideas, and services. (ssc.spaceforce.mil) Front Door sits inside Space Systems Command’s Commercial Space Office, which handles outreach to private companies. Since its customer-management system went live in September 2023, the program has logged more than 2,300 submissions from more than 1,850 companies and made more than 2,000 connections with government mission owners. (ssc.spaceforce.mil) U.S. Space Command is the military headquarters that plans and runs space operations, while the Space Force is the armed service that organizes, trains, and equips forces for those missions. The new setup gives companies a single intake process instead of separate outreach tracks across those organizations. (spacecom.mil, ssc.spaceforce.mil) The change follows a broader expansion of Front Door beyond Space Systems Command. At the Air, Space & Cyber Conference in September 2025, Chief of Space Operations General B. Chance Saltzman said the office would become the first point of contact for the whole service, not just one acquisition command. (airandspaceforces.com, dvidshub.net) That shift comes as military space buyers try to pull in more commercial tools, from satellite services to software and sensors, without forcing companies to navigate multiple offices. Space Command’s own industry portal says its outreach team coordinates meetings with senior leaders and connects companies to the command’s priorities. (spacecom.mil, ssc.spaceforce.mil) Front Door also gives registered companies access to “Orbital Watch,” an unclassified threat report from Headquarters Space Force Intelligence that is meant to help commercial operators understand risks and harden their systems. Space Systems Command said the program has supported more than 100 industry events, including industry days. (executivegov.com, ssc.spaceforce.mil) Lieutenant Colonel Heather Thomas of U.S. Space Command said Front Door offers “the comprehensive platform and process” the command needs to tap commercial ideas and avoid duplicate systems. For companies trying to break into military space work, the message is simpler: one portal now reaches both the service that buys capabilities and the command that uses them.
