OpenAI Taps Consultants for Enterprise Push

OpenAI is scaling its enterprise adoption by partnering with consulting firms like Accenture, Capgemini, and McKinsey. The collaborations aim to move clients beyond AI pilots to full-scale production deployments in regulated industries such as insurance and finance.

- This initiative, branded "Frontier Alliances," is designed to deploy OpenAI's new platform, Frontier, which serves as a management layer for creating and deploying AI agents that can connect to enterprise systems like CRM and ERP tools. - The partnerships are structured to address specific enterprise needs: McKinsey and Boston Consulting Group will focus on AI strategy and redesigning operating models, while Accenture and Capgemini will handle the technical, end-to-end integration of the Frontier platform into existing corporate systems and data. - The move is a direct response to a major enterprise challenge: while many companies are experimenting with AI, few are successfully scaling it. In the insurance sector, for example, only 7% of companies have deployed AI at scale, with most still in the pilot stage. - This collaboration aims to shorten the deployment timeline for production-grade AI solutions from months to weeks by addressing key barriers like legacy infrastructure, data readiness, and security requirements. - Enterprise revenue is a key focus for OpenAI, with CFO Sarah Friar stating a goal to increase the enterprise share of the business from 40% to 50%. This push follows significant growth, with the company reporting annualized revenue of $12 billion in July 2025, up from $3.7 billion in 2024. - The consulting firms are not exclusive to OpenAI, indicating a broader enterprise AI "land grab." Accenture also has a major partnership with competitor Anthropic to drive enterprise adoption of its Claude models, and McKinsey is working with Google Cloud to help clients deploy Gemini. - As part of the agreement, Accenture will equip tens of thousands of its employees with ChatGPT Enterprise, creating one of the largest workforces certified on OpenAI's technology.
