CyHi Drops Brutal J. Cole Diss

CyHi The Prynce released "B.R.A Lost Control" on Feb 28, described as a "brutal" diss track targeting J. Cole. The track continues hip-hop's competitive tradition and is drawing significant attention across social media as fans speculate about the feud's origins.

The animosity from CyHi appears to stem from J. Cole's 2016 track "False Prophets," which was widely interpreted as a critique of Kanye West, a longtime collaborator of CyHi's. In the song, Cole rapped about a hero who was "falling off" and surrounded by "yes men," a line CyHi seemingly took personal offense to as part of West's inner circle. On "B.R.A Lost Control," CyHi directly references "False Prophets," stating, "You forgot I still owe you for 'False Prophets'?" This decade-old grudge forms the core of the diss, suggesting CyHi has been waiting for the opportune moment to respond to what he perceived as a slight against his mentor. The track also takes aim at J. Cole's recent handling of his feud with Kendrick Lamar. CyHi criticizes Cole for apologizing and removing his diss track "7 Minute Drill," rapping, "You was scared of our good brother in that Grand National, why? / Shoulda knew you and that lil' Honda was gonna have to collide." This is not the first time CyHi has voiced his opinions on the state of modern hip-hop, recently taking to social media to criticize rappers with strong wordplay but a perceived lack of street credibility. While he initially clarified these comments weren't aimed at Cole, the new track suggests a deeper-seated issue with Cole's position in the rap landscape. As of now, J. Cole has not publicly responded to "B.R.A Lost Control." The hip-hop community is watching to see if the Dreamville artist will engage with CyHi, or if this will remain a one-sided lyrical assault.
