Batman Part 2 Filming Starts May

"The Batman Part 2" will begin filming in late May with Robert Pattinson returning alongside Sebastian Stan, Scarlett Johansson, and Barry Keoghan. The sequel follows the 2022 film that grossed over $770 million worldwide.

- The sequel's release date has been pushed to October 1, 2027, with filming now slated to begin in the spring of 2026. This represents a five-year gap between the first and second installments. - Director Matt Reeves returns and is co-writing the screenplay with Mattson Tomlin, who has described the sequel as a "new and dangerous" story. The film is reportedly operating under the working title "Vengeance 2," a nod to the first film's working title, "Vengeance." - While not officially confirmed by the studio, multiple reports indicate that Sebastian Stan is in talks to play Gotham's district attorney, Harvey Dent, who is known for becoming the villain Two-Face. Scarlett Johansson is also reportedly cast in an unconfirmed role, leading to speculation she may play Harvey Dent's wife, Gilda. - In addition to Robert Pattinson, other confirmed returning cast members include Jeffrey Wright as Commissioner Gordon, Andy Serkis as Alfred Pennyworth, and Colin Farrell as Oswald "Oz" Cobb/The Penguin. - The initial film, "The Batman," was a commercial success, grossing over $772 million worldwide on a production budget estimated between $185 million and $200 million. It became the seventh-highest-grossing film of 2022. - The sequel is part of DC's "Elseworlds" projects, meaning it exists in its own continuity and is separate from the main DC Universe being built by James Gunn and Peter Safran. - Barry Keoghan, who made a brief appearance at the end of the first film, is also expected to return as the Joker.
