Hyderabad's Tech Scene Expands with New AI Center
Data science firm Tredence announced a new innovation center in Hyderabad to focus on AI, pharmaceutical, and supply chain solutions. The move was part of a wave of investment announcements at the BioAsia 2026 conference, which also included a new $100 million life sciences campus. These developments further cement the city's status as a key hub for global corporations and AI innovation.
- Tredence's new 20,000 sq. ft. innovation center is located in Nanakramguda and is part of a plan to increase its Hyderabad workforce from over 400 to more than 2,200 by 2027. The company plans to add approximately 700 new roles in 2026 and another 1,100 in 2027. - The announcements were made at the 23rd edition of the BioAsia conference, which carried the theme "TechBio Unleashed: AI, Automation, and the Biology Revolution" and drew over 4,000 delegates from 500 companies. At the event, the Telangana government outlined a goal to attract $25 billion in life sciences investment and create 500,000 jobs by 2030. - Other major investments announced at BioAsia 2026 include an expansion by French consumer healthcare company Opella, which will create up to 500 jobs, and a new vaccine manufacturing facility by Indonesian firm Vaksindo Animal Health. Swiss pharmaceutical giant Novartis also celebrated 25 years of its Global Capability Center (GCC) in Hyderabad, its largest outside of its Basel headquarters. - The state government is actively fostering an AI ecosystem through initiatives like the planned "AI City" on 200 acres and a Telangana AI Innovation Hub. These projects aim to support startups, facilitate R&D, and train a large pool of AI engineers. - Hyderabad is home to a significant and growing number of Global Capability Centers (GCCs) for major multinational corporations, including Microsoft, Amazon, Google, Apple, and JP Morgan Chase. These centers have evolved from back-office support to strategic hubs for R&D, AI, and digital innovation. - The city's life sciences hub, Genome Valley, is the largest cluster of multi-tenanted lab spaces in India, housing over 150 companies. The new $100 million campus by Rx Propellant will add over 1 million square feet of advanced laboratory infrastructure to this cluster. - The Telangana government's "Next-Gen Life Sciences Policy 2026–2030" aims to transition the state from a volume-based pharmaceutical producer to a high-value therapy cluster. This includes developing 10 "pharma villages" and creating a bio-innovation and manufacturing hub. - Hyderabad hosts 14% of India's digital technology talent and is recognized as the world's fastest-growing hub for Global Capability Centers (GCCs). The city's IT exports reached approximately $32.2 billion in fiscal year 2024.
