iRacing Adds New Ranked Series
iRacing is introducing new ranked series for Week 13 in 2026 Season 1, expanding competitive opportunities for sim racers. Gran Turismo 7 also rolled out fresh Daily Races this week, including a unique Gr.4 event with special rules and tracks. Both updates give racing game fans more structured competition.
iRacing's Week 13 is not just an intermission; it's the traditional launch window for the sim's quarterly updates and new content, serving as a large-scale test bed before the next official season begins. This transition week mixes a few official series that count towards safety and skill ratings with a majority of unofficial, "just for fun" races. The introduction of over a dozen new one-week ranked championships is a significant expansion of Week 13's competitive offerings. These new series will feature popular cars across different disciplines, including the FIA Formula 4, INDY NXT, various GT4 cars, and the 410 Sprint Car. Each day of Week 13 will feature a different track for these championships, a departure from the single-track weekly format of the regular season. Beyond the new ranked series, Week 13 is known for its experimental and often chaotic unranked races. Past events have included "Tube Frame Twister," which puts stock cars on road courses, and "Battle of the Little Wings," a multi-class race for open-wheel cars. These novelty events allow drivers to try unusual car and track combinations without impacting their official ratings. In Gran Turismo 7, the latest Gr.4 Daily Race is a strategic departure from the norm, taking place at the high-speed Circuit de Sainte-Croix. The race mandates the use of front-engine, rear-wheel-drive (FR) cars only, removing the category's typical all-wheel-drive and mid-engine mainstays from contention. This FR-only restriction forces drivers to adapt their driving style for a more tail-happy experience on a circuit known for its fast, flowing corners and significant elevation changes. The race also features a 5x tire wear multiplier and a 3x fuel consumption multiplier, making tire management and pit strategy crucial for success over the 9-lap race. While Gran Turismo 7's "Daily Races" refresh on a weekly basis every Monday, events with such specific drivetrain limitations combined with high wear and fuel consumption are not a standard weekly feature, presenting a unique challenge for Gr.4 competitors.
