Bitcoin ETFs See $1B Rebound

Bitcoin ETF inflows rebounded to $1B weekly amid market dips, while Grayscale's Ethereum ETF became the first to distribute staking rewards. The Senate is advancing a CFTC regulation bill as institutional interest persists despite geopolitical tensions from Iran news driving volatility.

The recent $1B inflow into spot Bitcoin ETFs snapped a five-week streak of withdrawals that had totaled over $3.8 billion. This reversal brings the total assets under management for U.S. Bitcoin spot ETFs to approximately $83.4 billion. The majority of the renewed inflows were captured by BlackRock's IBIT and Fidelity's FBTC. Grayscale's Ethereum Trust (ETHE) made history by distributing the first-ever staking rewards for a U.S.-listed crypto ETP. Shareholders of record as of January 5, 2026, received a cash payout of $0.083178 per share on January 6, 2026, from rewards earned between October and December 2025. This move pioneers a new way for investors to earn yield from digital assets within a traditional investment vehicle. The legislative push for regulatory clarity in the U.S. is centered around two key pieces of legislation: the Digital Asset Market Clarity Act (CLARITY Act) and the Digital Commodity Intermediaries Act (DCIA). The House has already passed the CLARITY Act, which aims to provide a framework for classifying digital assets as either securities or commodities. The DCIA, which recently advanced out of the Senate Agriculture Committee on a party-line vote, would grant the Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC) jurisdiction over "digital commodities" and establish a registration regime for exchanges, brokers, and dealers. This is seen as a critical step toward creating clear rules for the digital asset markets. Despite initial price dips in cryptocurrencies following news of escalating geopolitical tensions with Iran, the market showed resilience. Bitcoin's price, after a brief drop, stabilized, and the rebound in ETF inflows occurred amidst this period of heightened global uncertainty.
