Agentic AI Startups Secure New Funding

Venture investment continues to flow into agentic AI startups. Pactum raised a $54 million Series C for procurement automation, while Didero secured a $30 million Series A to automate supply chains. Additionally, Adapt raised a $10 million seed round to build an integrated agentic platform for business workflows.

- Agentic AI systems are designed to go beyond just generating content; they can independently plan and execute multi-step actions to achieve a goal with limited human supervision. This approach differs from Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG) which primarily focuses on grounding LLM outputs in external knowledge to improve accuracy and reduce hallucinations. - The recent funding rounds signal a broader trend, with investment in agentic AI startups projected to reach $6.7 billion in 2025, accounting for 10% of all AI funding. This follows a surge to $2.8 billion in the first half of 2025. - Pactum's $54M Series C was led by Insight Partners, bringing their total funding to over $100 million. Their AI agents, already used by Walmart and Maersk, handle complex supplier negotiations and have managed deals as large as $140.5 million. - Didero's $30M Series A was co-led by Chemistry and Headline, with participation from Microsoft's M12 venture fund. Their AI agents integrate with existing ERP and email systems to automate procurement workflows, addressing the 60-70% of time teams spend on manual tasks. - Adapt's $10M seed round was co-led by Activant Capital and Headline. Their platform acts as a horizontal "AI Computer for Business," connecting to company data via APIs for systems like Google Workspace and Slack, allowing agents to work within existing chat-based workflows. - The technical challenge for agentic systems lies in areas like dynamic information retrieval, reasoning, and planning, often combining LLMs with other techniques to interact with external tools and data sources. This creates a need for robust MLOps and infrastructure to manage these complex, multi-step processes.
