Seedance 2.0 rolls out for creators
HeyGen and Runway rolled out Seedance 2.0—tools that let users create multi-character, dynamically moving digital twins and generate video from images, audio or text—and Runway made the capability available on paid plans with a promotional discount. The releases extend the trend of making complex video synthesis accessible to paying creators and teams. ( )
A year ago, making an artificial intelligence video with one person was easy to fake and hard to control. This week, HeyGen and Runway started selling tools that let paying users build scenes with multiple consistent characters, moving cameras, and generated sound from the same prompt. (heygen.com) (runwayml.com) The model underneath is Seedance 2.0, a video generator Runway labels as a third-party model and HeyGen says now powers its own creator workflows. Runway says it can take text, images, video, and audio as inputs, then output 5 to 15 second clips in resolutions up to 720p. (runwayml.com 1) (runwayml.com 2) HeyGen is using that model for a different job than Runway is. Instead of just making clips, HeyGen is plugging Seedance 2.0 into “Avatar Shots,” “Video Agent,” and its general video generator so a user’s verified digital twin can appear inside cinematic scenes. (heygen.com) (heygen.noticeable.news) A digital twin is the company’s name for a verified artificial intelligence version of a real person’s face and voice. HeyGen says its consent and identity checks are the reason Seedance footage can include real human likenesses there, because Seedance does not allow human faces on its public application programming interface. (heygen.com 1) (heygen.com 2) That is the split between the two launches. Runway warns that Seedance 2.0 may moderate image inputs showing realistic humans and suggests stylized characters when users upload faces, while HeyGen is selling the opposite promise: your own verified face, locked across cuts and camera angles. (runwayml.com) (heygen.com) HeyGen’s pitch is not just “make a clip.” Its Video Agent product says one prompt can assemble script, voiceover, editing, Seedance footage, and a digital twin into a finished video up to three minutes long. (heygen.com) (heygen.noticeable.news) Runway’s pitch is closer to a control panel for filmmakers and designers. Its help page says users can choose reference mode, start-and-end-frame mode, or text-to-video mode, then steer camera movement, lighting, and character performance inside the same generation flow. (runwayml.com) The pricing move is part of the story. Runway says Seedance 2.0 is available on Standard plans and above, and its product page is offering 50 percent off for three months with the code “SEEDANCE,” ending April 13 at 9 a.m. Pacific Time. (runwayml.com 1) (runwayml.com 2) (runwayml.com 3) What changed here is not that artificial intelligence video suddenly became possible in April 2026. What changed is that features that used to live in separate tools — character consistency, camera control, generated audio, and identity-safe avatars — are being bundled into paid products ordinary creator teams can actually buy this week.
