Georgia Special Election Heads to Runoff

Georgia's 14th Congressional District special election will hold a runoff on April 7 between Fuller (Trump-backed) and Harris.

The special election was triggered by Marjorie Taylor Greene's resignation on January 5, 2026. Greene cited disagreements with President Trump over his handling of the Epstein files as the reason for her departure. The winner of the April 7 runoff will serve the remainder of Greene's term, which ends on January 3, 2027. Clay Fuller, the Republican candidate, is a U.S. Air Force veteran and the District Attorney for the Lookout Mountain Judicial Circuit. He previously served as a White House Fellow under President Trump. Fuller's campaign emphasizes his law enforcement background and conservative priorities. Shawn Harris, the Democratic candidate, is a retired brigadier general and cattle farmer. He is a veteran of the U.S. Marine Corps and the U.S. Army. Harris was the Democratic nominee against Greene in 2024. Georgia's 14th Congressional District is located in the northwest corner of the state. It is considered the most Republican district in Georgia. The district is largely rural and exurban.
