Dinner by Heston Blumenthal, located in the Mandarin Oriental Hyde Park, will close in January 2027 after 16 years. Heston Blumenthal cited the end of the restaurant's tenancy agreement, rising food prices, and his own health as factors in the decision. Blumenthal was diagnosed with bipolar disorder after being sectioned in November 2023. The restaurant, known for its innovative takes on historic British cuisine, gained a Michelin star within a year of opening in 2011 and a second in 2014. Dishes were inspired by historic British recipes, with some dating back to the 1300s. Food historians and the British Library were consulted in developing the menu. One of Dinner's signature dishes was "Meat Fruit," a chicken liver parfait encased in mandarin jelly, resembling a mandarin orange. At its peak, the restaurant sold 900 "Meat Fruits" per week and became one of Instagram's most photographed dishes in 2011. Other popular dishes included Tipsy Cake, inspired by an 1811 recipe, and Scallop Frumenty. Blumenthal also owns The Fat Duck in Bray, Berkshire, which earned three Michelin stars and was named the world's best restaurant in 2005. He also owns The Hind's Head, a one-Michelin-star pub, also in Bray. Blumenthal has hinted at the possibility of Dinner moving to a new location in the future.
