Michelin-starred Chef Anne-Sophie Pic is creating haute couture-inspired dishes at Dior's Monsieur Dior Restaurant in Beijing. The collaboration merges high fashion aesthetics with elevated French cuisine.
Anne-Sophie Pic is the most decorated female chef in the world, currently holding 10 Michelin stars across her restaurants. She comes from a legendary culinary family; both her father, Jacques Pic, and grandfather, André Pic, were celebrated three-Michelin-starred chefs. Initially, she didn't train as a chef and instead studied business, only returning to the family restaurant, Maison Pic, at age 23. After her father passed away unexpectedly, she eventually took over the kitchen without formal training and, in 2007, regained the third Michelin star for Maison Pic that had been lost. This made her the fourth female chef to ever command a three-star kitchen. The Beijing restaurant is located in the Sanlitun district within a five-story Dior flagship store designed by Pritzker Prize-winning architect Christian de Portzamparc. The restaurant itself is described as an intimate, luminous space featuring works of art and furniture with floral motifs, reflecting the brand's aesthetic. The menu is designed to poetically tell the history of the House of Dior. Dishes are inspired by Dior's universe, with signature items like "L'Entrelacé," where trout and sole are braided together, and a dessert that pays homage to the Miss Dior perfume. This collaboration is part of a broader trend where luxury fashion houses are entering the culinary world to offer multi-sensory brand experiences. Other brands like Gucci, Louis Vuitton, and Prada have also opened cafes and restaurants, merging their brand identity with fine dining. The Monsieur Dior restaurant concept is not exclusive to Beijing. A Parisian location at the 30 Montaigne flagship is run by chef Yannick Alléno, and another outpost has opened in Beverly Hills in collaboration with chef Dominique Crenn.
