The Michelin Guide has published its first Philippines edition, listing 108 restaurants across Metro Manila, nearby provinces and Cebu. (michelin.com) Michelin said the 2026 selection covers 90 establishments in Manila and its environs and 18 in Cebu. The guide was unveiled on October 30, 2025, at Manila Marriott Hotel in Newport World Resorts. (michelin.com) (guide.michelin.com) The inaugural list includes one restaurant with two Michelin stars, eight with one star, 25 Bib Gourmand picks and 74 restaurants in the Michelin Selected category. Michelin gave Helm in Makati the country’s only two-star rating in the first edition. Michelin also awarded a Green Star to Toyo Eatery for sustainability. (guide.michelin.com 1) (guide.michelin.com 2) Bib Gourmand is Michelin’s label for restaurants it says offer good quality food at a moderate price, and the Philippines debut named 25 such places. Those picks included Manila institutions and regional stops in Pampanga, Tagaytay and Cebu, widening the guide beyond central business districts. (guide.michelin.com 1) (guide.michelin.com 2) Michelin’s inspectors did not limit the project to Metro Manila. The company said the first edition spans Makati, Manila, Mandaluyong, Parañaque, Pasay, Quezon City, Taguig and San Juan, plus Cavite, Pampanga, Tagaytay and Cebu. (guide.michelin.com) (spot.ph) That geography helps explain why this is more than a Manila dining story. Michelin’s first formal footprint in the Philippines now ties international recognition to places known for regional cooking, from Kapampangan food in Pampanga to Cebu’s restaurant scene. (michelin.com) (manilastandard.net) The launch followed Michelin’s February 2025 announcement that it would begin reviewing restaurants in Manila and Cebu for a debut guide. Michelin said then that its anonymous inspectors would judge venues using the same five criteria it applies worldwide, including quality of ingredients, harmony of flavors and consistency. (guide.michelin.com) (guide.michelin.com) For Filipino chefs, the first edition puts local restaurants into Michelin’s global ranking system without waiting for diners to travel to Singapore, Hong Kong or Bangkok for a regional benchmark. For diners, it creates a new map of where Michelin says the country’s most notable meals now are. (guide.michelin.com) (guide.michelin.com)
