Largest Food Cart Plaza Opens
Vancouver, Washington just soft-opened what's being called the "largest food cart plaza in America" on the city's east side. The expansive plaza brings together a wide array of food vendors and is set to become a major destination for street food enthusiasts in the Pacific Northwest.
The new plaza, officially named Vancouver Station Food Carts, is located at 1817 SE 164th Ave. It boasts space for 44 food carts, which would make it larger than Portland's biggest pods and potentially the largest in the country. The project is owned by Tai Dang, who also operates a sister location, the Hillsboro Downtown Station. At the core of the development is an 8,000-square-foot, two-story dining hall that provides year-round indoor seating. This central hub features a full cocktail bar with 34 drafts, a coffee counter, and an ice cream shop. The site also includes over 200 parking spaces, private rooms, and mezzanine seating. While the space has capacity for 44 vendors, only eight carts were operating during the initial soft opening. The general manager, Ryan Biornstad, noted that many more vendors have signed up but are still navigating the state's permitting process. The vision for Vancouver Station extends beyond food, with plans for daily entertainment such as live bands, DJs, trivia nights, and bingo. A grand opening is anticipated for the spring, once more food carts have completed their permitting and moved in.
