Fremont Promotes City Services App

The city of Fremont, California, is encouraging residents to use its official mobile app to report issues like potholes and graffiti. The app also serves as a hub for city news and event information, offering a direct line of communication with the local government.

The Fremont App for service requests is a product from software company Granicus, which specializes in government-citizen engagement technology. The platform is one of two digital tools the city uses for civic interaction. While the Fremont App is intended for residents to report specific non-emergency issues, the city launched a separate platform in 2022 called MyFremont for broader community feedback on city projects and initiatives. The MyFremont platform, powered by EngagementHQ, is designed to gather public input on topics such as updates to city ordinances and proposed infrastructure projects. This tool is part of the city's effort to involve residents in the decision-making process for future planning. City officials encourage residents to register for MyFremont to stay informed and participate in discussions about community development. The Fremont App allows residents to report a range of issues, including downed trees, sidewalk damage, potholes, graffiti, and illegal dumping. The city's Public Works department encourages the use of the app to report these and other maintenance concerns. The app is part of a broader set of citywide initiatives that leverage technology for public safety, sustainability, and infrastructure improvements. For transparency, the city maintains a public data dashboard for the Fremont App. This dashboard provides an overview of community requests and the city's response, including the number of app downloads, requests created, and their current status. Since its launch in 2020, the app has been downloaded over 11,583 times.
