Advanced Plasma Exchange Therapy Launches in Beverly Hills

A new initiative offering advanced therapeutic plasma exchange (TPE) protocols has launched in Beverly Hills. The service reflects a growing trend towards personalized, biomarker-driven health care and toxin reduction, particularly in affluent urban areas.

The new Beverly Hills service is a partnership between age-management company Cenegenics and medical technology firm MDLifespan. The collaboration will introduce MDLifespan's patented "PlasmaXchange" protocols into Cenegenics' U.S. centers, starting with Los Angeles, Miami, and Atlanta. Therapeutic Plasma Exchange (TPE), also known as plasmapheresis, is an existing medical procedure that separates plasma from blood cells. While traditionally used for autoimmune disorders, this new application is an "off-label use" of an FDA-cleared device, repositioned as a proactive wellness and longevity treatment. The protocol specifically targets the removal of environmental toxins such as microplastics, PFAS, heavy metals, and pesticides that accumulate in the bloodstream. This focus is a direct response to growing health concerns in the Los Angeles area linked to pollutants from sources like urban wildfires and photochemical smog. The procedure is often likened to an "oil change for the body." It involves removing a patient's plasma via an IV, separating it from blood and immune cells, and then returning the cells to the body with a replacement fluid, such as albumin. The process for one session typically takes between two and four hours. This type of therapy is gaining traction in the "longevity medicine" space, attracting high-profile individuals and venture capital investment. For example, startup Circulate Health, which offers a similar service, raised $12 million in a seed round led by Khosla Ventures to expand its network of clinics. The treatments are part of a larger trend toward biomarker-driven health services aimed at reducing chronic inflammation. Proponents claim benefits such as improved mental clarity, enhanced cardiovascular health, and better immune function. The cost for these elective treatments is significant, with a single session at similar clinics reportedly ranging from $8,000 to $10,000. The expansion into affluent areas like Beverly Hills highlights the growing market for high-end, proactive health and detoxification services.
