Huawei Launches New AI Data Platform

Huawei has officially launched its AI Data Platform at MWC Barcelona 2026. The new offering is designed to better connect AI models with business value by integrating data storage, analytics, and management technologies.

The new platform heavily emphasizes accelerating AI inference, not just training, aiming to solve challenges like AI hallucinations and slow response times that hinder real-world enterprise adoption. This signals a market shift towards optimizing the performance of deployed AI models, a critical phase for generating business value. Huawei's "3+1" architecture underpins the platform. It features high-accuracy multimodal knowledge generation, a KV cache to speed up inference, and memory extraction for smarter model performance over time. These components are managed by a Unified Cache Manager, designed to reduce latency and redundant computations. The platform boasts concrete performance metrics, claiming a retrieval accuracy of over 95% for its knowledge generation and retrieval function. For inference acceleration, the use of a three-level KV cache is said to lower the "time to first token" by 90%, a key metric for real-time applications like chatbots. This offering builds on Huawei's existing data infrastructure portfolio, including its GaussDB database and DataArts data governance platform. The company is positioning these technologies as part of an integrated, AI-native ecosystem, moving beyond cloud-native architectures to offer Model-as-a-Service (MaaS) capabilities. For deployment, Huawei provides two models: an integrated appliance using its OceanStor A800 system for new setups, and a decoupled mode that uses an AI data engine with existing OceanStor Dorado storage. This dual approach allows both greenfield deployment and the upgrading of existing infrastructure, protecting prior investments. The competitive landscape for AI data platforms is fierce, including major cloud providers like AWS, Google, and Alibaba Cloud, alongside specialized players such as H2O.ai and IBM. Huawei's strategy appears to focus on tightly integrated hardware and software solutions optimized for specific industrial applications, particularly in telecommunications and smart cities.
