New Music Friday Hip-Hop Drops

New releases included Yeat & EsDeeKid "Made It On Our Own", Joyner Lucas & Kodak Black "Enemies", Concrete Boys "It's Us Vol. 2", and CHASE B "BE VERY AFRAID". Bruno Mars also dropped "The Romantic" while Gorillaz released "The Mountain" as part of the weekly new music cycle.

The transatlantic collaboration "Made It On Our Own" serves as the first single from Yeat's forthcoming album, *A Dangerous Life*. The track's music video, directed by Director X, was filmed at Drake's mansion in Toronto and features cameos from Lyrical Lemonade founder Cole Bennett and Chicago Bears quarterback Caleb Williams. "BE VERY AFRAID" marks the debut album from CHASE B, who is best known as Travis Scott's longtime DJ. He described the project not as a traditional album, but as a "curation of people and sounds that I think are dope," featuring both superstars and new artists. The star-studded tracklist includes Travis Scott, Don Toliver, Quavo, Big Sean, Swae Lee, and Sheck Wes. The Atlanta-based collective Concrete Boys is led by Lil Yachty and features members Camo!, Draft Day, Dc2trill, and the newest addition, Honest. Their 17-track compilation tape "It's Us Vol. 2" builds on the momentum of their 2025 debut and includes guest appearances from Veeze and Rio Da Yung OG. "The Romantic" is Bruno Mars' first solo studio album in nearly a decade, following 2016's multi-Grammy-winning *24K Magic*. The album's lead single, "I Just Might," has already debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100. To celebrate the release, Mars launched a three-day pop-up flower shop event in Los Angeles. Gorillaz' ninth studio album, "The Mountain," is the virtual band's first independent release on their own KONG label. The project was heavily influenced by a trip to India taken by co-founders Damon Albarn and Jamie Hewlett and explores themes of grief, mortality, and world politics. The album features collaborations with artists like Black Thought and IDLES, along with posthumous appearances from Dennis Hopper, Tony Allen, and Mark E. Smith.
