Expedient’s VMware Bridge Program
Expedient launched a ‘Bridge Program’ promising customers ‘one contact, one plan, one destination’ to manage VMware continuity amid licensing and architecture change. Expedient said on April 14 it launched a VMware transition service aimed at customers and partners caught in Broadcom’s partner and licensing overhaul. (expedient.com) The company said the program gives clients a single contact, a written compliance and migration evaluation, and a contractual destination before any workload move begins. Expedient said the initial “Bridge Fit Check,” assessments, discovery, and migration planning carry no cost or obligation. (prnewswire.com) Expedient said the offer is for three groups: VMware end customers, companies still running VMware on their own hardware, and customers whose current VMware Cloud Service Provider will not renew. The company said it can keep workloads in place under a new licensing structure while it plans a move to private cloud, on-premises, or edge infrastructure across its 14 United States data centers. (expedient.com) The backdrop is Broadcom’s remaking of VMware after closing its acquisition in December 2023. In January 2024, VMware said it was ending perpetual licensing and shifting customers to subscription offers centered on VMware Cloud Foundation and VMware vSphere Foundation. (blogs.vmware.com) That change also narrowed how customers can buy and consume VMware through service providers. Broadcom said its VMware Cloud Service Provider program would focus on a smaller set of partners, and multiple partner advisories said the white-label model ended on October 31, 2025, outside the European Economic Area. (news.broadcom.com) (lightedge.com) Expedient tied its new program directly to those deadlines. The company said non-renewing VMware Cloud Service Provider contracts expire in March 2027, leaving information-technology teams with a planning window rather than an immediate shutdown. (expedient.com) The sales pitch rests on Expedient’s status inside Broadcom’s ecosystem. Expedient became a Pinnacle-tier VMware Cloud Service Provider partner in North America in March 2024, and Broadcom describes Pinnacle as the highest level in its partner program. (expedient.com) (prnewswire.com) Expedient said it will take the “Broadcom-required legal control” role through a documented lease structure, while partners can remain customer-facing. Broadcom vice president Ricky Cooper said in Expedient’s announcement that Pinnacle partners are “the backbone” of VMware Cloud Foundation delivery at scale. (expedient.com 1) (expedient.com 2) For customers, the immediate question is less about a new cloud product than about contract continuity. Expedient’s answer is to package licensing, compliance review, and a destination plan into one vendor relationship before the March 2027 deadline arrives. (prnewswire.com)
