The American Physical Therapy Association’s orthopedics division is offering a new online toolkit that turns musculoskeletal care guidelines into 22 interactive training modules. (orthopt.org) Clinical practice guidelines are evidence-based recommendations for how clinicians assess and treat common problems, and the American Physical Therapy Association says they are meant to support decisions without replacing clinician judgment. (apta.org) The new course, called Interactive Clinical Practice Guidelines, was announced by APTA Orthopedics on January 14, 2026, and the group said members can access it online at their own pace for up to 11 contact hours. (orthopt.org) APTA Orthopedics said the program was developed with PhysioU and uses region-specific modules and real patient scenarios to build clinical reasoning and guideline use across major body regions. (orthopt.org) The course page says the modules cover extremity and spine care and move beyond reading a guideline PDF by adding case-based decision making tied to everyday clinic visits. (orthopt.org) PhysioU’s description of the guideline-based package says the digital tools include videos of movement analysis, exercise progressions, examination procedures, manual techniques, and device applications. (clinicalpattern.com) APTA Orthopedics has been building out this guideline system for years through published recommendations, implementation resources, and webinars that connect clinicians with guideline authors. Its current guideline pages list topics including low back pain, neck pain, concussion, knee and anterior cruciate ligament injury prevention, and hamstring strain in athletes. (orthopt.org 1) (orthopt.org 2) (orthopt.org 3) The organization says the broader goal is to get evidence-based orthopedic physical therapy used more consistently in real clinics, where treatment choices can vary widely by setting and clinician experience. (orthopt.org) (apta.org) For clinicians who treat sports injuries, back pain, and other musculoskeletal conditions, the pitch is straightforward: less time translating dense guidelines on their own, and more time applying them to the next patient visit.
