Borderlands 4 Gets Stone Demon DLC
Borderlands 4 has launched its first major expansion, "Legend of the Stone Demon," part of Bounty Pack 2. The DLC introduces four boss fights, new legendary loot, and the return of Pearlescent gear—a rare item class from previous entries.
- Pearlescent gear, the returning rarity class, first appeared in the original *Borderlands* as part of *The Secret Armory of General Knoxx* DLC and was initially the rarest loot in the game. In *Borderlands 2*, they were reintroduced and required the *Ultimate Vault Hunter Upgrade* pack to spawn, dropping from specific high-level enemies or obtainable from a slot machine in a later DLC. - The "Bounty Pack" naming convention follows a similar pattern to previous, smaller-scale DLCs in the series, such as the "Headhunter Packs" for *Borderlands 2*. These packs traditionally offered shorter new missions and boss fights compared to the larger, story-driven expansions. - According to the post-launch roadmap revealed by developer Gearbox Software, two more Bounty Packs and one additional, larger Story Pack are planned for release after the "Legend of the Stone Demon". - This DLC is part of the post-launch content for *Borderlands 4*, which was released on September 12, 2025, for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, and Windows. The game takes place on a new planet called Kairos and features four new Vault Hunters. - The launch of the base game was considered "a bit softer than we would've liked" by parent company Take-Two Interactive, partly due to performance issues on PC at release.
