TRON DAO Expands Academy to Elite Universities

The blockchain organization TRON DAO is expanding its educational Academy to several elite universities, including Princeton and Oxford. The initiative focuses on hands-on mentorship to cultivate relationships with future leaders in technology and finance.

This expansion for the 2025-2026 academic year brings the TRON Academy's network to at least 12 elite institutions. The new additions join an existing roster that includes Harvard, Yale, MIT, Cornell, Columbia, UC Berkeley, and Imperial College London. The initiative partners directly with student-led blockchain organizations on each campus, not formal university departments. These campus clubs, such as the Princeton Blockchain Club and Oxford Blockchain Society, range in size from over 100 to more than 2,500 active members. TRON DAO provides these student groups with funding, technical resources, and mentorship to bridge the gap between academic theory and real-world blockchain application. The program includes workshops and career-focused events to improve developer readiness. The TRON network itself was founded in 2017 by Justin Sun, a University of Pennsylvania graduate who also studied at a business school founded by Alibaba's Jack Ma. Sun formerly served as Grenada's Ambassador to the World Trade Organization. As of February 2026, the TRON blockchain has surpassed 366 million user accounts and processed over 13 billion transactions. The network supports over $85 billion in the stablecoin Tether (USDT) and holds more than $23 billion in total value locked (TVL).
