Bam Adebayo Joins Heat History

Bam Adebayo reached a major milestone, becoming just the second player in Miami Heat history (after Dwyane Wade) to score 10,000 points for the franchise. Adebayo, originally drafted for his defensive prowess, has evolved into a well-rounded star and cornerstone for the Heat.

The milestone was reached with a 24-point performance in a 121-110 victory over the Detroit Pistons on March 9, 2026. This achievement places him in exclusive company, as Dwyane Wade, the franchise's all-time leading scorer with 21,556 points, is the only other player to have reached that mark. Adebayo's journey to 10,000 points underscores a significant offensive evolution. Initially drafted 14th overall in 2017, he was primarily recognized for his defensive skills and potential as a lob threat. He has since developed into a consistent scorer, on pace to average at least 18 points per game for the sixth consecutive season. This scoring prowess complements his already elite defensive game. Adebayo is a three-time NBA All-Star and a five-time member of the NBA's All-Defensive Team. Heat coach Erik Spoelstra has consistently praised Adebayo as the anchor of the team's defense and a candidate for Defensive Player of the Year. Beyond scoring, Adebayo is climbing other franchise leaderboards. He currently sits second in all-time rebounds for the Heat, trailing only Udonis Haslem. Adebayo has expressed that Haslem's rebounding record is a significant goal for him.
