Cognizant, Google Cloud Deepen AI Pact

Cognizant and Google Cloud have expanded their strategic partnership to focus on operationalizing "agentic AI" at an enterprise scale. The collaboration aims to move beyond proof-of-concept projects to full-scale AI deployment, particularly within regulated industries.

- This expanded partnership is part of a significant financial commitment by Cognizant, which announced it would invest $1 billion in generative AI over the next three years. This investment covers personnel, platforms, partnerships, and potential mergers and acquisitions. - Cognizant is establishing a dedicated Gemini Enterprise Center of Excellence to support the scalable delivery of agentic AI. This is complemented by the development of proprietary platforms like Cognizant Agent Foundry, which provides no-code tools and pre-configured solutions for use cases like AI-powered contact centers. - Key executives overseeing this collaboration include Annadurai Elango, Cognizant's President of Core Technologies and Insights, and Kevin Ichhpurani, Google Cloud's President of Global Ecosystem and Channels. - The collaboration has already been active, with Cognizant initiating over 200 generative AI engagements with clients, ranging from pilots to full deployments, even before this latest expansion. - In the healthcare sector, a primary target for the partnership, agentic AI is being developed to automate complex tasks like records maintenance and payment coordination that require human oversight due to sensitive data. An example is an AI-enabled assistant for Cognizant's TriZetto platform that can automate retrieving procedural information or checking provider notes. - For the financial services industry, the partnership aims to deploy agentic AI for tasks such as real-time fraud detection, automated trade execution, and personalized portfolio management based on an individual's risk tolerance. - To facilitate the adoption and development of these AI solutions, Cognizant has opened new Google Cloud AI innovation centers in Bengaluru, London, and San Francisco. - Cognizant is also heavily investing in its workforce by training 70,000 associates on Google Cloud's AI technologies, including Gemini, as part of its Synapse skilling program.
